Schedule an appointment

Be sure to review our Clinic Policies in regards to rescheduling and cancellation. We do not have a receptionist and may not be able to respond to communications during treatment hours. Inquiries are generally returned outside of treatment hours, or at our soonest availability.

If it is your first appointment, please fill out consent paperwork and health questionnaire on our scheduler or arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled time to complete forms at the clinic. If you are more than 20 minutes late, we can only accommodate you if there is excess space in the schedule. Unless there are available chairs, we will not be able to accommodate early arrivals as we sometimes need to wake up other patients in order for you to have a seat.

For New Patients

First Visit Treatment Flow

  • Before or upon arriving to the clinic, please turn off or silence your cell phone, watch, speakers, and anything else that makes noise.

  • Pay for your treatment - Cash is preferable. Venmo is also available.

  • Please leave wet umbrellas in the reception area.

  • If you have a time restriction, let us know. Generally, we limit treatments to 1 hour if the schedule is full. Otherwise you are welcome to stay as long as you like until we close (1 hour past the last appointment)

  • Use the restroom if needed, before sitting down. There are water cups in the bathroom if you need a drink - NYC has excellent, drinkable tap water.

  • Pick a chair and store your belongings in the bin under your chair. Your acupuncturist will be moving around the chair and we do not want to step on anything.

  • Take off shoes, socks, and hat, roll up your sleeves to the elbows and pant legs to the knees, or leave your clothing as you are most comfortable. Those who wish to stay fully covered for religious or personal reasons are welcome. We will always ask before moving your clothing.

  • Kick back in the chair and get comfortable. There are tension locks under the arm rests. If you are most comfortable sitting straight upright, that is also OK.

  • Once you are settled in your chair we will chat about any concerns you mentioned in your forms, discuss a treatment plan for visit frequency, then administer the pins.

  • Once your needles are placed, we leave you to rest so they can do their work. If you need an extra blanket or are ready to get up, give us a nod or wave, as we are walking through the treatment area and we will attend to you. It is normal for pins to fall out - no need to call us over. We will help you find stay pins at the end of your treatment. If your eyes are closed we will not approach you unless you give us a wake-up time.

  • Please do not get up with needles in. If you need to get up, we will need to take them out- at which point your treatment is over.

Friendly Guidelines for New Patients

  • Don't get poked on a completely empty stomach! If you are able to eat before arriving, that is advised.

  • Caffeine ingested less than 3 hours before treatment can sensitize your nerves and make your body more sensitive to needling sensations.

  • We often mask and encourage you to wear a mask, but ultimately it is your choice and we trust you to decide what is best for yourself. That being said, if you have an active cough or sneeze from any source, we require you to wear a KN95 mask or better. If you do not have a mask we have N95 respirators available at the clinic for free.

  • Please be aware that we keep prices low by offering a group setting. That means there will be people around you and the possibility of noises that humans make including but not limited snoring, coughing, sneezing, crying, sniffling, burping, farting, talking, footsteps, rolling wheels, crinkling, the door opening and shutting, toilet flushing, and sighing. There is also possibility of noises outside of our control that the city makes including but not limited to barking dogs, general street noise, train vibration, honking, bonking, sirens, yelling, and music. If this is disruptive to your experience, you are welcome to bring headphones or ear plugs to decrease ambient noises.

  • Please wear what you are comfortable in. We never needle through fabric. Because of this, you will be asked to remove your socks, shoes, hats, as well as roll up your sleeves and pant legs. If you prefer not to move or remove garments for ANY reason that is OK! We can still give you a great treatment using your hands, face, feet, scalp, and/or ears. There are tons of ways to treat all conditions. We will figure it out, together.
