Clinic Policies - Everything Else
Walk-in Appointments
We will do our best to treat walk-in patients as the schedule allows. You are welcome to stop by and check out the clinic and get on the schedule for the future. You may have to wait if we are busy with other patients, we are unable to walk away mid-treatment and do not have a receptionist. If you are able to refer to the online scheduler, you will have a good sense of when there is time to see you for same-day treatments.
Calls and texts may not be answered for up to 24 hours.
We do not schedule via e-mail or direct message on Instagram.
Mask Policy
Covid-19 is still active. Our primary practitioner wears a mask.
Masks are not required by current state guidelines but are strongly encouraged. Our mask policy is subject to change at any time.
Please wear a mask if you have a cough, cold, are sneezing, or are not feeling well.
Please do not come to the clinic if you have tested positive with Covid-19 within the past 2 weeks.
We may instate a designated mask-required day(s) for the comfort and well-being of our immunity compromised community members. Should that be the case, there will be a note on the schedule. When mandatory, masks must fit over the nose and under the chin with no gaps. Please wear a KN95 or better. We have free N95 masks and you are also welcome to bring your own.
Children
Acupuncture is often very effective for children and teens, and many of them love it. We ask only that the child in question is willing to try acupuncture; we don’t want to treat unwilling patients of any age.
Our seating is very limited and there is not space for excess chairs or standing people. Our chairs are for 1 person only.
Consider seeking out a pediatric acupuncturist for a private treatment if your child cannot sit in our treatment room unattended. If you child requires monitoring, you must book an appointment for yourself as well so that you can sit in the treatment room together- Adjacent seating is not guaranteed.
We are not able to supervise children who are not being treated.
Animals
We love pets, but please leave your furry friends and emotional support animals at home.
Trained service animals are welcome and should be identified as such with visible insignia.
If you need additional information, please refer to this link: https://www.ada.gov/resources/service-animals-faqs/
We do not treat animals.
We cannot treat you if...
You have had a fever in the last 24 hours of 100°F or above.
Your home currently has activity of, or is being treated for, bedbugs, fleas, scabies, or lice
You have had any NEW symptoms of COVID-19, flu symptoms, sore throat, acute diarrhea, shortness of breath due to acute illness, RSV, MPOX, flu, viral/bacterial pneumonia, communicable skin conditions, or any other known viral illness that is contagious via surfaces, skin-to-skin contact, or sharing air space (breathing).

Hate has no home here. In line with our mission of accessibility and creating a safer space where neighbors can rest and heal together, we do not support clothing that displays hate speech- that is, clothing that depicts, incites, or refers to any group of people in a derogatory or violent manner. We reserve the right to deny entry to any people wearing clothing that displays hateful language, references, or images.
Clinic Policies - Lateness, Re-Scheduling, Cancellation, Late Cancels, Missed Appointments
Please take a few moments to review our policy on lateness, rescheduling, missed appointments, late cancels, and general cancellations.
We make every attempt to make acupuncture available to as many people as possible, at some of the most affordable rates in NYC. These policies are necessary to keep our clinic running smoothly and to be fair to our staff, as well as other patients. We can not afford to absorb the costs of missed appointments and late cancellations. No-show and last minute cancellation fees are a standard practice across most single-provider appointment-based industries, and acupuncture is no exception. These policies are strictly enforced. We appreciate your understanding.
We have a 24 hour cancellation policy. You can reschedule or cancel your appointment online without incurring a fee, so long as it is more than 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment time. Please use your online account to reschedule or cancel your appointment. https://commongoodacu.acubliss.app/
We require that all clients add Credit Card information when they book an appointment. We do not charge for your treatment in advance. Your credit card on file is charged only for Missed Appointments or Late Cancellations. Please note that if your card is denied for a late cancellation fee, we must cancel any future appointments you have. You will receive an invoice that you can pay online and may schedule again once it is paid in full.
Ack, I'm running late!!
We understand you can't control the weather, the MTA, or the traffic! Things happen. If you are running late, we will make our best effort to still treat you. If you are still within the window of your treatment time please note that your treatment time may be shortened. Please be aware that appointments are packed together, with up to 3-6 patients arriving for treatments every hour. So you can understand why being late might gum up the system and have a serious ripple effect that will effect the rest of the day.
Please arrive with enough time before your appointment in order to prepare for your treatment. (ie. to take off your shoes, to check in and pay for your appointment, to use the bathroom, change clothes, etc.). Our reception area is very small and only has 2 seats available, so it is not suitable for arriving too early, either.
New patient appointments are about 10-15 minutes for intake, and up to 45ish minutes of resting (total treatment, approx 60 minutes).
Repeat patient appointments are 10 minutes long, and up to 50 minutes of resting.
The time that you are resting is when we attend to other patients and their appointments.
For this reason, if you are more than 15 minutes late, we will only be able to treat you if there is time in the schedule. We need to first honor the standing time of patient who are present, before we can treat late-arrival individuals. If there is not an open slot, it is considered a missed/late cancel appointment and a fee may be charged. We empathize that charging this fee is not pleasant to enforce or pay, and it may be disappointing to not receive treatment especially if you are sick or in pain. As a small business providing a low cost service, we believe this policy is in alignment with ensuring proper consideration and compensation for the time and energy of everyone who needs and provides services at Common Good Acupuncture.
Cancellation and Rescheduling
You are responsible for rescheduling or canceling your own appointment.

Late Cancels and Missed Appointments
Late cancellations are any cancellation requests received less than 24 hours prior to the appointment time. Late cancellations are charged a late cancellation fee. This will be charged to your credit card on file. We cannot make any exception with the 24 hour cutoff time. If your credit card is declined when we charge the late cancellation fee, your future appointments will be cancelled and we will send you an invoice.
How much is the late cancellation/missed appointment fee?
$47 for first time visits
$37 for returning visits
If appointments have been purchased in a package, the missed or last minute cancelled appointment will be deducted from the number of remaining treatment credits in that package.

Common Good Acupuncture welcomes people of all genders, sexes, races, colors, incomes, national origins, ages, abilities or disabilities, marital statuses (legal or otherwise), immigration status, familial situations, religions, sizes and shapes, HIV status, sexual orientations, occupations, and political beliefs. Your level of care will never be based on any of these factors. This is a space of acceptance for diversity. Nor will it be based on how much you pay on our sliding scale.
We follow the Principles of Harm Reduction, keep Narcan on-site at all times, and will not pass judgment about addiction or any pharmaceutical or recreational drug use.
We will not comment on your weight or monitor your size. We believe that humans can be healthy at any size, and that weight stigma can cause terrible harm, especially in healthcare settings.
Feel free to come into the clinic in a way that feels most comfortable and easy for you.
You do not need to apologize for messy hair, unmanicured toenails, unshaved legs, or wearing your gym clothes.
We follow the principles of Trauma Informed Care, which endeavors to help people feel more physically and psychologically safe. We understand that many people have experienced traumas (including medical traumas) in their lives. This is part of why we treat people in an open room with limited sensory stimuli, and also try to be very transparent about all of our policies. We want you to be informed, active collaborators in this process.
We understand that due to factors such as trauma, socialization, and cultural expectations, some people are not able to actively advocate for themselves or communicate in moments of stress/distress - which could include any part of visiting our clinic. We will do our best to notice external flags of discomfort (facial expressions, recoiling) and check in about it. We will proactively ask for consent before moving clothing. You're welcome to tell us your accessibility needs, we will do our best within our means to accommodate you within the parameters of the community acupuncture container. IE if hearing someone snore makes you anxious, we can suggest that you bring ear plugs. We are not able to stop patients from snoring and therefore would not be able to accommodate you.
We will not pass judgment on food, occupation, or lifestyle choices. And in any case don't have the time to discuss these topics at length. We would rather focus on helping you make it through another day of late-stage capitalism than judge what you do to make that happen.
We believe in autonomy
We are here to meet you where you are at!
We hope you will meet us where we are at, too.
We probably won’t get all of this right all the time but we are truly trying!
